To that end, there are a variety of common conditions and treatments that we provide to the individuals and families of the local area. Take a look at how we can help you!
Common Conditions We See
At Child & Family Eyecare, there are a few common optometry conditions we see. Some of the most common eye care problems we encounter include:
Refractive Errors: Myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism are the three kinds of refractive errors. These errors cause blurry vision as a result of light not being focused correctly on the retina. If someone develops a refractive error, we can treat it with glasses or contacts, restoring that person's ability to see clearly.
Foreign Body: We also see a lot of patients who suffer from foreign bodies in their eyes. Some of the most common types of foreign bodies include grains of sand, metal, dust, and shrapnel. We can use a special dye called fluorescein to check to see if there is a corneal abrasion present in your eyes. We remove foreign bodies safely and treat any injuries they may have caused.
Glaucoma: Glaucoma is a serious eye condition and is one of the main reasons why we encourage all of our patients to come and see us at least once per year. Glaucoma is a number of eye conditions that cause damage to the optic nerve. If someone develops glaucoma, the disease can lead to blindness. That is why we always check the pressure of someone's eyes during an exam, as elevated eye pressure is the number one cause of glaucoma.
These are only a few of the many conditions we see at Child & Family Eyecare in Wichita, KS.
